Text description provided by the architects. Structural Engineer: “The cheapest option would be an arch. But usually architects don’t like them, so you can put an UPN beam at each side, or carbon fiber, whatever you want”.

The project consists in unifying two locals in a single one in order to use it as a file. The initial budget calculated from the Spanish Architect’s association tables was 60,000 euros, and we worked to reduce it to 12,000.
In order to achieve it, you have to get rid of the usual chapters that you don’t really need: air conditioning, excessive lighting, etc. In this case, for instance, the proximity to the sea and the existence of "embat" sea breeze, ensures a pleasant temperature on summer if adequate cross ventilation channels are arranged. That’s the reason why we placed blinds in front of the entrance doors.
For the rest, you gotta think from the construction. To cut an entry is not the same than to built an entry. And of course, to leave everything as it is, it doesn’t matter if it has been designed to be seen or not: concrete walls, installations, marks of cement glue from the previous tiles...
The furniture allows self-construction. We learned that you can substitute the metal shelves of the industrial model for laminated FSC pine boards for the same price, providing a warmth that metal doesn’t has.
